Shinkawa Electric Co., Ltd. – Making Sensors Smart

Around the world, factories are evolving becoming smarter, more efficient and increasingly connected. At the heart of this shift is Shinkawa Electric, a Japanese firm advancing sensor-enabled manufacturing through strategic partnerships and a growing global footprint. Led by President Fumito Shinkawa, the company has evolved over nearly a century from producing precision electronics to leading IoT (Internet of Things) sensors, essential to modern manufacturing lines. Shinkawa’s innovations are also vital in other fields, from Japan’s H3 satellite launch program to sensors capable of responding to the hydrogen era. In today’s manufacturing environments, the ability to predict equipment failures and schedule maintenance is crucial to minimizing downtime. Shinkawa said: “We have developed a software package called infiSYS, which quickly analyzes data from sensors installed on rotating machinery. It contributes to the prediction and prevention of equipment failures and also supports remote monitoring. To further improve the accuracy of failure prediction, we are now integrating AI into infiSYS.”  Shinkawa is also keen to tap into the potential of new regions. “We see India and the Middle East as promising markets,” he said. “In India, we have established a strong and collaborative relationship with our local partner, Forbes Marshall.”
