While most people are familiar with the random-access memory (RAM) in their computers and smartphones, fewer know about the rise of alternative memory—a new wave of chips offering faster speeds and lower power consumption. Autonomous vehicles, robotics and medical devices all rely on compact, energy-efficient electronics, and at the core of these systems is FeRAM (Ferroelectric RAM), a standout in next-generation memory. Japan’s Ramxeed has been a leader in FeRAM production for over 20 years, shipping more than 4.4 billion units worldwide to be used in the automotive, medical and FA industries, among others. CEO Hidehisa Ueda sees strong potential ahead. “Our FeRAM is known for high-speed writing and does not require a battery,” he explains. “We expect rising demand, particularly for small, high-performance packages suited to edge AI applications.”
