Thoughtful design choices in the home don’t just elevate aesthetics—they can quietly transform everyday life. Take something as ordinary as a kitchen or bathroom faucet; almost every home has several. While it may seem like a simple tool, when the quality is high, you can feel the difference every time you turn it on.
Kitchen and bathroom fixture manufacturer KVK understands this well. As a manufacturer based in the rural Kamo District of Gifu Prefecture, an area rich in craft traditions, KVK is committed to elevating the quality of the humble faucet at every stage of production—from initial sand casting to the finest plating details.
With growing overseas interest in its products in recent years, particularly in Southeast Asia, rising incomes and the strong reputation of Made in Japan are driving demand. “The role of the faucet has gone beyond just a tool,” said President Masayuki Suematsu, sharing his philosophy. “Consumers are placing greater focus on the aesthetic elements. Thanks to our production expertise, we are able to create very complex finishes. Using a rich product lineup that only a specialized manufacturer can offer, we are fully prepared to meet demand in overseas markets.”
A key part of KVK’s lineup is its hassui technology, a durable, water-repellent finish that keeps fixtures looking as good as new. Developed through cutting-edge research collaborations, KVK’s hassui coating ensures that its products not only look great, but also makes cleaning easier. “Customers often comment that stain removal and cleaning routines can be tough, and this was the catalyst for our new product,” said Suematsu. Another pillar of development for KVK has been environmental innovation. Their unique “e-Lever” technology helps conserve energy by reducing unnecessary hot water use, while their “e-shower” technology helps cut water consumption. “Surveys show that most people who shower like to experience roughly 10 liters of water per minute in order to feel comfortable. With our “e-shower” technology, 7 liters per minute was enough to achieve a similar result,” Suematsu explained.
KVK’s commitment to detail, along with a deep respect for how people live, has been core to the company’s success over an almost 90-year history. Looking ahead, Suematsu is confident that the craftspeople of Gifu will have a positive impact further afield. “We are always searching for the next solution to society’s water-related challenges,” he said.
