Japanese snack food producer Oyatsu Company is proving as popular with parents as it is with children, thanks to a groundbreaking range of healthy treats.
Best known for its ‘Baby Star’ ramen-based snacks aimed at everyone from children to adults, the company has been enjoying great success by offering foods containing nutritional ingredients with established health benefits. These include ‘Sozai Ichiba’, which substitutes wheat with surimi fish ingredients for greater nutrition.
President Fumio Teshima believes this combination of good taste and good health is the key to moving the industry forward. “All food makers really need to consider the nutritional content of their food, due to increased customer awareness,” said Teshima. Since 1948, Oyatsu Company has been a cornerstone of the snack sector and is now taking its business into the future by utilizing its expertise and experience to power an innovative new approach to product development and sales. This includes new flavors of BABY STAR products tailored to different regions, healthy snacks including Body Star, which boasts 20g of protein in a single pack, and ‘Oyatsu Sapuri’, which contains ingredients such as glucomoringin, which is said to help reduce fatigue.
The firm is also working to develop further functional products, such as foods with sleep and relaxation-boosting qualities. “We believe that combining tasty snacks with these ingredients allows us to create more added-value products,” said Teshima. “We are currently applying for Japan’s Food with Function Claims certification for some of our products, which will allow us to promote their health benefits further,” he said.
