GK had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Kenichi Horino, president of RASCO, about Japan\u2019s enduring strength in monozukuri<\/em>, the company\u2019s niche role in semiconductor manufacturing, and its strategic decision to focus on core competencies following the pandemic. In<\/span> terms of Japanese innovation and its concept of <\/span>Monozukuri<\/span><\/em>, what is it that gives the country a competitive advantage against other regional competitors?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Japanese products are usually more durable<\/span><\/span> and have <\/span><\/span>a <\/span><\/span>strength which allows them to last longer<\/span><\/span> than other countries’ products. For example, we manufacture equipment<\/span><\/span> which has a <\/span><\/span>high<\/span><\/span> reputation<\/span><\/span> among our client base to be extremely durable and almost <\/span><\/span>unbreakable<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What impact has the increased demand for semiconductor manufacturing facilities had on your business?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are in a very niche industry, therefore a lot of the things that we do is very unique in the world. In that sense, because we<\/span> are niche<\/span>, this means that there are few alternative players within this field.<\/span>\u00a0One example of development is that our products can have a special kind of control that other<\/span> competitors\u2019 products cannot achieve.\u00a0 <\/span>This kind<\/span> of technology performance, our products having the ability to do what others cannot, is the key to RASCO being the preferred partner.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What role does Rasco play in supporting the pharmaceutical industry?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Since one of our partnerships is within the pharmaceutical industry, we do have techniques such as sterilization technology <\/span><\/span>that<\/span><\/span> we can offer to them<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>However, as the world changed so quickly following the COVID-19 pandemic, and the semiconductor supply shortage, we decided to focus solely on our semiconductor business instead. Our company motto is \u201cmanufacturing accomplishment<\/span>\u201d,<\/span> meaning we manufacture products, supply to our customers<\/span><\/span> and gain customer satisfaction.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
